Artcamp 2007

Thanks everyone for a fantastic day. The event was wildly successful, with 150 people in attendance. I'm still compiling other statistics, such as just how many sessions and events happened. There was an undeniable energy and yes, chaos, which means, in the end, that we got what we wanted!

I've made a new page for photos and other documentation from the event, and I would love it if you'd all put up links to the many photographs that were taken on the day. There are already some from Phillip Jeffrey and also a lovely GPS map made by Alan McConchie during M. Simon Levin's MMES walk. Send more soon please!

You might notice that I've put some restrictions on the pages now, so some are editable by registered users only (logged in to mediawiki) and others are uneditable. I've done this because the spambots have started working their tiny blackmagic and I want to keep this intact as an archive. If you find that these limitations are creating problems for you and you are an actual person, please get in touch and I'll make sure you get access. (kate at katearmstrong dotcom)

ArtCamp07: Re:use is a one-day un-conference that aims to bring the open, participatory and creative energy of BarCamp to the world of art in an interdisciplinary forum. It is a hybrid conference/workshop/etc event in which participants come together to show work, demo artworks, projects, research or technology, learn new hands-on practices, and talk about ideas. ArtCamp06 was attended by over a hundred artists, designers, programmers, critics, theorists, curators and practitioners from all fields who presented 30 workshops, talks and hybrid events in a single day.

Geared toward creatively parsing concepts of Re:Use with reference to contemporary art, media and design, ArtCamp07 is about leading or participating in sessions, asking interesting questions, showing what you’re doing, sharing what you’re thinking about, meeting, eating and greeting.

ArtCamp is a co-production between Upgrade! Vancouver and the New Forms Festival. ArtCamp 07 is partnering with PAARC to support the events of SWARM 8. (link to SWARM 7}
