As one door closes another opens, until we return to where we came. Inevitable change, opposing extremes headline.
With humble beginnings, a video clip of a willow branch is captured. The motion and timing is accentuated based on natural flow and patterning. A time-based process is routed through digital mechanization; each frame mapped spanning the area of the projection. The original dominant patterns of movement emerge again in new form as a looping grid or fabric of simultaneous movement. Work examines, expresses the notion of flux, continuous motion, multiplicities from both a literal definition and philosophical position. Historical visual parallels can also be drawn from Futurist paintings, depicting movement and change. As with Eadweard Muybridge’s images and process of recording motion. However, a particular poetic sensitivity is quietly expressed which echoes and resonates qualities of the original source.
