For this project I will work with the films ‘Very Nice, Very Nice’ (1961) and ‘21-87′ (1963) by Arthur Lipsett, sampling small image and sound segments, and through repetition and layering with other elements, build something both minimal and massive. I will use analog processors that simultaneously manipulate image and sound, as well as hand built oscillators and feedback generators. I aim to create an experience that is overwhelming, visceral, and sublime, paying homage to a brilliant Canadian experimental film maker, whose work is rich in image/sound dynamics, and ablaze with the contradictory terrifying fantastic.
